Changing some of the ways most businesses operate may be quite a huge process to navigate through when it involves some organizations, especially those companies of whom their work culture and policies have long embraced the routine of operating from a traditional office space standpoint. Likewise on the opposite end, comes some other group of these organizations whose work culture and practices may prove to be different from the previous group. The later group may believe that operating in both directions is the best acts for a perfect work culture—such that it provides a safe haven for them to improve and succeed.
As a result, these set of businesses are sometimes found switching in both directions of these two corporate practices in their daily work culture. And they can believe the same act to give room for flexibility and autonomy to their employees, thereby boosting efficiency and resulting to an increase in the employees performance improvement and the necessary growth these companies need.

Even in the case of this set of organizational mindsets, one would believe it wasn’t conceived on the notion that these organizations were better prepared for the present trend of the global pandemic we are seeing now. Yet the notion may be true to the point, since the practice of switching in both office and remote based culture is now serving the purpose in solving the economic problem in most organizations. It also provides the best tools to help save some of these businesses in the short run.
What happens when the processes we know before change? In times like this, what we are accustomed to do may no longer be important. What matters now is only the mechanism we can adopt and implement to survive in the face of the present economic hardship. In other words, when the paradigm shift occurs, it leaves every organization and everyone—both the employers and the employees vulnerable to their own fates. This may in turn require every organization to make the needful changes or they may stand to face the unprecedented economic downturn, which also may invariably, have both positive and negative consequences on the finances of everyone including the businesses in our communities. In this scenario, the necessity may become the mother of invention.
This is what we are experiencing in the current global pandemic state of coronavirus, where the world economy is hit hard. And the health status of some people are altered. The finances of businesses and citizens are being drained in no time. This has left everyone isolated and scared. Consequently, it’s no longer refuting to the people and every corporation to believe that the emergence of Coronavirus in the world today has ushered a new normal in the way we work and socialize these days.
Changing the traditional office space we already knew before now to a remote work experience is now eminent across all corporate culture. Working from home has become the most acceptable work culture than coming to the office to perform our regular duties that could be performed effectively and efficiently if we were working from home.
Even though we have seen some folks lose their jobs, yet most of these businesses have resorted to putting up some measures that help them retain some of their employees. This has only been possible because it allows a few individuals to report to the office because their jobs are required for such employment status. Since these employees job duties are mainly office-space-bound, they have no option for some remote work opportunities. Therefore, anything less than that will leave these set of people facing the possibility of losing their jobs like others who have been laid off by these companies.

It’s however, overwhelming how business and their employees are reacting to the trend. Still, the changes has come to us to embrace it because we do not want to be infected by anyone with a positive test to the novel Covid-19 virus. The social distancing exercise is now the norm through which we can fight the virus. The regular hand washing has become good practice. Some now wear face mask in the public arena, just for the purpose of practicing safety and keeping everyone around them safe from getting the virus.
And the economy has continued to experience a spike in a recorded increase in the unemployment rate. Some people are out of job because most companies are now laying off some of their employees of whom they think their services are no longer needed in the organizations, since these employees can only perform their duties from the regular office-space-work practice. To these companies, they could not afford paying some of their employees due to lack of budget to handle payroll expenses.
Some of these employees are left to face the unforeseen financial difficulties as a result of the changes brought about by Covid-19 pandemic. Those employees whose job duties are much needed to sustain the businesses of their organizations are allowed to transition from working from the office space practice to working remotely. However, this has made it necessary for these organizations to stay in business despite the challenges ahead of the global pandemic caused by Coronavirus in our communities.
With all of these waves of fear and uncertainty, who do we believe is benefiting and who do we say is losing out in the current economic state of our time?
The answer is not far fetched. With the continuous effect of coronavirus pandemic in our communities, most businesses are down in their lows, which leaves them begging for possible bellout. While others are reaping the benefit the pandemic present to them due to the nature of their business models. From the corporation standpoint, one would believe that those businesses who practice only the traditional office-space work routine may be hit harder by the presence of the pandemic because of the difficulties of these organizations may face in transitioning into the needed remote operation, especiatially at the precarious time we are into.
In other words, navigating through the remote work culture now may not come that easy to some of these organizations. And this may take a lot of time to be implemented and sustained by the companies in this subset. Because of lack of preparation and less time in practicing remote work culture, these set of organizations may experience a form of security inadequacy within their cybersecurity bandwidth, which may result in some data exposure and a possible loss in the process.
But for corporations who have long been practicing remote work culture in collaboration with the normal office space work policy, their business sustainability at this time may be far better and favorable. This is because these businesses may stand to gain in the heat of this Covid-19 pandemic since they already have in place the remote work mechanism and the experience in place for quite a long time before the pandemic hit.
So transitioning a handful of employees and maintaining the process is much easier to come by for these organizations. And the issue of data security exposure may be limited, once measures are since put in place to protect all remote workers and their devices. In this case, a few employees may be laid off anyway, since a handful of employees are expected to work from home.
We may see the result with the way things are going right now in our communities. It’s now more important than ever, and more eminent than never for organizations to accept the belief that the future of work is here to favor remote practice than the traditional office based we know before. And the normal traditional office space culture and practice is gradually giving way to the now popular remote work culture.
Those corporations who have long embraced the practice of both mechanisms: the traditional office and the remote work culture will always have advantages over those that practice only the traditional office based work policy when emergencies occurs, such as the present Covid-19 virus case or any other case that may affect social changes in the nearest future. These social changes include the organizational culture of corporations, the way we behave and the way we work.
